OAKFIELD HOUSE
about the project
Oakfield House is a residential extension that strengthens the connection between a traditional home and its garden. Contemporary materials and generous glazing introduce a lighter, more open living space while respecting the character of the existing building.

THE BRIEF
The homeowners needed more room for cooking, dining, and spending time together. Their priority was to improve the flow of the house and bring more natural light into the rear of the property without making the extension feel disconnected from the original architecture.
THE APPROACH
We developed a simple extension with clear proportions and a direct relationship to the garden. Brickwork references the existing house, while large glazed openings and warm timber details establish a contemporary contrast between old and new.
THE OUTCOME
The new space creates a natural centre for daily life, with improved daylight, clearer circulation, and a stronger connection to the outdoors. The extension adds functionality while allowing the original house to retain its character.
